Victoria Palace Theatre Hotels

The current Victoria Palace theatre was built in 1911.  It was, at the time, the height of luxury and expense, costing £12,000 and featuring a marble foyer and electric lights.  In attempt to make its patrons comfortable whatever the season, it was fitted with central heating and a sliding roof (otherwise known as Edwardian air conditioning!) Memorable productions include Me and My Girl, first performed in 1937, The Crazy Gang which ran from 1947 to 1962, and the notorious Black & White Minstrel Show which was broadcast on television from the theatre for 10 years starting in 1962.

The theatre seats 1,550 over 3 levels and now has a more up to date air cooling system.  The auditorium is well-designed with few restricted views.  The only slight problem is with a side angle in some seats.  This affects the Stalls in the last 3 seats at each end of rows E to C, the Dress Circle in the 6 end seats in the first 3 rows and slip seats, and the sides of the Grand Circle. The rest of the theatre offers clear viewing.

Disabled access to the building is through the second EXIT door on Allington Street.  There is level access to the back of the Stalls, where there are 2 spaces for wheelchair users.  An adapted toilet is nearby.  The auditorium has an infra-red sound amplification system for the hard of hearing.  Guests using this facility should sit in the Stalls.

The nearest tube station is Victoria (100m).  There is a Westminster City Council car park at Rochester Row (inside Congestion Charge zone) and the NCP at Pimlico (outside Congestion Charge zone).
