The Alexander Fleming Hall of Residence is situated in fashionable east London, within Hoxton and on the cusp of Shoreditch and the financial centre of the city. The area is teeming with bars, cafés and clubs and is undoubtedly one of the best places to venture out at the weekend, with other up and coming districts such as Dalston and Hackney just up the road. Several markets including Brick Lane Market, Spitalfields Market and Columbia Road Flower Market help to give the area some of its colourful character, and there is a multitude of cool boutiques and bars just on your doorstep. Tourist attractions including St Paul's Cathedral and the Barbican Centre, and Old Street tube station on the Northern line is under 10 minutes walk from the halls entrance.
Each flat within the halls of residence is made up of several bedrooms, a lobby, a kitchen and two to three bathrooms dependent on the size of the flat. Kitchens come fully equipped with a cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, kettle and toaster, and are a great solution for those who want to save money on expensive meals out during their time in London. There are televisions and ironing facilities in each lounge area, and several laundrettes in the local area. Coin-operated telephones are available in the corridors outside each flat.
The rooms within the Alexander Fleming Hall of Residence are set up in a typical university halls style, with each building consisting of several self-contained flats with between four and eight single bedrooms. Rooms are fairly basic with a desk, lamp, wardrobe, washbasin and bedlinen provided, and are outfitted in a simple and modern style.
