The Unicorn is housed in a purpose built theatre on the south bank of the Thames. It produces and presents theatre for young people. It opened in 2005 and stages more than 620 performances a year.
The building has air conditioning and a café. This is open Monday to Friday from 8am to 4.30pm and also before evening and weekend performances. It serves pastries, salads, sandwiches and soups.
The Unicorn has 2 performance spaces – the Weston Theatre and the Clore Theatre. The former seats 100 in flexible arrangements, depending on the production; the latter, around 300 on cushioned benches. Seating is unreserved.
The building can be accessed via a ramp in Unicorn Passage. There is level access into the Clore Theatre and there are always spaces for wheelchair users. The Weston Theatre is on Level 2 or 3 and is accessed via a lift. There are spaces for wheelchair users in the front or back row. Disabled toilets are located on Level -1 and Level 2. Some performances are audio described and an infra-red Sennheiser sound amplification system has been fitted in both theatres.
The nearest tube stations are London Bridge (400m) and Tower Hill (1,300m). The theatre is signposted from both of these stations, so you shouldn’t have any difficulty finding it. There is no parking at the theatre. Car drivers can use the NCP at the junction of Snowsfield and Kipling Street.
