About Tricycle Theatre

The Tricycle Theatre opened in 1980.  It is subsidised by public funds and concentrates on plays that reflect the cultural diversity of its community, particularly plays by Black, Irish, Jewish, Asian and South African writers.  It also presents plays which respond to current political issues.  In 1994, Half the Picture was produced by the Tricycle and it became the first play ever to be performed in the Houses of Parliament.  It was a dramatisation of the Scott Arms to Iraq Inquiry.  The theatre has gone on to reconstruct a number of other tribunals and inquiries with great success.

The theatre is housed in a former music and dance hall in Kilburn. The building is air conditioned and has a café and bar.  Food is served Monday to Saturday, 12 noon to 8pm; soup, sandwiches and hot meals are available.  Seating in the auditorium is bench style and it holds 235.  The complex also contains a 300 seat cinema.

Disabled access is via the ramp at the main entrance.  A lift will take you to the Royal Circle level where there are 2 spaces for wheelchair users.  There is an adapted toilet in the foyer by the lift, another in the basement which is accessed via a platform lift, and a third one by the venue’s cinema.  The auditorium has an induction loop system for hearing aid users.

The nearest tube station is Kilburn (500m) and the nearest train station is Brondesbury (200m).  There are 2 disabled parking bays outside the theatre on Buckley Road and more on Kilburn High Road.  Other car drivers can pay and display or park for free in the surrounding roads in the evening.
