The Soho Theatre Company was founded in 1969. Its early years included work by Sue Townsend, Hanif Kureishi and Tony Marchant. It has had several homes over the years but settled in its own new theatre in 2000. It presents new plays as well as comedy, cabaret and talks.
The building is air conditioned and has a café. The main auditorium seats 160 on cushioned benches. Seating is unreserved and the high rake means that all positions offer a clear view. The Studio seats 85 on movable chairs.
Disabled access is through the entrance on Dean Street through automatic double doors. There is a lift to all levels on the left of the box office. The main auditorium has 4 wheelchair spaces on level 1 and further spaces on level 2. There are 4 spaces for wheelchair users in the front row of the Studio, which is on level 3. Adapted toilets can be found on the ground level, level 2 and level 3. The main auditorium has an infra-red sound amplification system for the hard of hearing and the studio has an induction loop.
