Sofitel St. James has a commanding presence with its grand façade that dominates Waterloo Place. As a grade II-listed building it was once the home of Lloyd's Bank's headquarters but, with the help of French interior designer Pierre Yves Rochon, it has been transformed into a much nobler purpose, namely a luxury 5 star hotel in the very heart of London.
The hotel is located just north of Buckingham Palace and the City of Westminster, both of which are in easy walking distance. The Covent Garden market is just a 10 minute walk to the north with the shopping district of Oxford Street and the theatres of the West End just beyond. Hyde Park, Kensington Palace and Gardens, The London Eye and the business districts are all a short tube ride away and can be accessed through either of the nearby stations. Charing Cross is serviced by the Bakerloo and Northern Lines, and Piccadilly Circus by the Bakerloo and Piccadilly Lines, providing easy access to the rest of the city. Both are just a 5 minute walk from the hotel.
The Sofitel So Spa is the hotel's centrepiece, a French spa that incorporates international treatments, including those carefully designed for mothers-to-be. The spa also includes a Technogym, complete with all the most modern equipment, set in a tranquil scene, surrounded by greenery. Guests can also enrol in the bootcamp, which takes place in the nearby park. Those who don't have time for a workout and are in town on business will find the function rooms useful with a capacity of between 12 and 180 providing modern technological equipment and catering.
Once the working day is over the St. James Bar is the ideal place to try a cocktail, or relax with a glass of wine. Alternatively guests may enjoy an afternoon tea at The Rose Lounge.

Guests arriving through any of the city's airports will find taxis waiting to bring them into the city. Alternatively they can take either the Heathrow Express (journey time of approximately 15 minutes) through to Paddington, or the Gatwick Express through to Victoria (about 30 minutes). From Paddington guests should take the Bakerloo Line straight through to Piccadilly Circus. Those arriving through Victoria should take the Victoria Line one stop to Green Park and change on to the Piccadilly Line to continue through to Piccadilly Circus. Once at Piccadilly Circus the hotel is a simple walk; guests should exit the station right, walking around the corner and taking the first right on to Jermyn Street followed by the second left on to Regent Street. From here guests need only to walk in a straight line until they reach the hotel on Waterloo Place. Alternatively taxis are available from any of the city's train stations.
Those arriving by car should follow signs for Hyde Park, central London. On arriving at Hyde Park guests should make their way to the southeast corner, exiting from Park Lane on to the A4 Piccadilly. Guests should then take a right on to St. James' Street after passing Green Park, followed by the fourth left on to Pall Mall and finally a right on to Waterloo Place. Parking is available at the hotel.
