The design of the Rose Theatre was inspired by an Elizabethan theatre of the same name. This one, in Kingston, opened in January 2008. It has presented a number of visiting productions and some one night shows, including a regular slot for the Comedy Store.
The auditorium seats 1,000 around a lozenge-shaped stage, over 4 levels of seating and including an area in front of the stage where the audience sit on cushions on the floor. The best views are from the centre block of the Stalls and the Circle and the front row of the Pit Seated. The Pit Seated is unraked and the two upper tiers suffer from restricted views.
Disabled access to the theatre is at the main entrance which is on ground level. There are lifts to all other floors. There are 5 wheelchair spaces in both the Stalls and the Circle. Adapted toilets are available. The theatre has an infra-red and induction loop sound amplification system for the hard of hearing.
The nearest train station is Kingston, which is a 15 minute walk away. The closest car park is Rose Car Park in Kingston, 2 minutes’ walk from the theatre.
