Richmond is an upmarket picturesque town forming one of the more well-to-do suburbs of London. Providing easy access to the large green spaces of Richmond Park and Kew Gardens, Richmond is hugely popular with tourists and London locals for its plush, countryside feel. For travellers, Richmond hotels can be a somewhat expensive option, but its position midway between London and Heathrow can come in very handy, and its boutique shops, riverside location and old-fashioned buildings offer a tranquil base reminiscent of wealthy Southern English towns like Henley.
There aren’t a great number of Richmond hotels, and most of them are between two and four stars. One of the closest four star hotels to the station is the Richmond Inn, housed in an attractive townhouse with a four-storey conservatory, to which some of the bedrooms have exclusive access. It’s a comfortable, well-placed establishment with a small meeting room for business customers.
One three star option with a high customer satisfaction rating is Shandon House, one of Richmond’s smartest budget hotels, housed behind a Victorian façade and decorated in a stylish mix of red and cream. The two star Dukes Head Inn is a good traditional choice, being basically a family-run B&B above a rather good pub.
Richmond Station services National Rail and the London Overground, and is the terminus for the District Line after Kew Gardens.
