Newbury Park Hotels

Newbury Park is a district of Ilford in northeast London. A suburban subsection of an area which is itself a suburb of London, Newbury Park is a relaxed, very ordinary London suburb mostly of interest to tourists for providing a cheap, pleasant base from which to explore the city on daytrips. The surrounding area has access to Seven Kings Park, Valentines Park and Fairlop Waters Park and Golf Club, but little else of note.

There is only one hotel near Newbury Park Station, the Newbury Park Holiday Inn Express, a three star chain hotel housed in a moderately striking modern building, the Holiday Inn has its own restaurant, comfortable rooms and a decent breakfast buffet. It makes a fine if unremarkable base.

A little to the west, Hotel St. Georgio is slightly more distinctive, 25 minutes from Oxford Street on the Central Line from Gants Hill. The glowing neon Nyana Bar serves standard hotel grub, while the rooms are generally spacious and clean. The executive suite goes for about the same price as most normal rooms in the city centre.

The two star Banks Hotel in Ilford is another good budget choice. A large building with plenty of parking space, the rooms are comfortable and contemporary and you can sleep four people for £80. The complimentary Full English/Continental Buffet is a tasty highlight.

Newbury Park Station is in Zone 4 on the Central Line. If you’re interested in such things, its prominent adjacent bus station is now a listed building after winning an architectural award in 1951.
