Menier Theatre Hotels

Menier was a French pharmaceuticals company, which built a chocolate factory in London in 1870 as part of an expansion of their business.  Chocolate was then seen as a medicinal product…and I suppose it still is, by some people!  By 2004, the building had been transformed into a fully functioning theatre.  It specialises in fringe productions and has had a number of notable plays, including Sunday in the Park with George.  This won the 2005 Critic’s Circle Theatre Award for Best Design.  It transferred to the Wyndham’s Theatre in 2006, where it won 5 Olivier Awards, and it subsequently transferred to Broadway.

The brick and timber former factory creates an atmospheric location for an evening out.  The auditorium seats 150 people and there is a bar and restaurant serving modern British cuisine.  Pre-theatre set menus are available.

Step-free access to the building is via the main entrance on Southwark Street.  There is space for one wheelchair user at the front of the auditorium.  There is no sound amplification system, but patrons who are hard of hearing can request seats near the stage.

The nearest tube station is London Bridge.  Parking in the area is difficult.  There are disabled parking bays on Southwark Street and parking on single yellow lines is possible in the streets around the theatre, after 6.30pm and at the weekend.
