Marylebone is located in the centre of London within the West End area. It's situated to the north-east of Hyde Park between the areas of Paddington and Oxford Street and is mostly residential, though it is becoming a more popular area for business. It is an affluent part of London and perhaps not the cheapest place to stay but its convenient location within reach of the city's most popular tourist attractions and the primary financial district makes it convenient for both leisure visitors and business people alike.
Marylebone is perhaps best known as the home of the celebrity wax model museum Madame Tussauds, which has the best party guestlist known to man, as Nelson Mandela and Albert Einstein stand alongside a glamorous looking Amy Winehouse. The museum is conveniently located less than a 10 minute walk from the station. Marylebone High Street is full of stylish shops and makes a great alternative to Oxford Street, which is a few stops away on the tube. Regents Park, home to the London Zoo, is also just a short walk away.
Most of the restaurants and eateries in the area are located on the main High Street and venues range from cheap takeaways such as Subway to highly rated restaurants. Surrounding the tube station alone is a seafood restaurant, a sports bar and grill and a venue serving strictly Italian cuisine, so the area provides a good variety if not the largest quantity of eateries. Without a good deal of cafes it just wouldn't be London and local cafes range from a bohemian Shisha cafe to the more modern internet cafes, allowing you to keep in touch with friends and family.
For those in the know, Marylebone is fast becoming one of London's most fashionable areas and any night out is bound to be a stylish one. If you're looking to try something new then you can do little better than going Greek dancing at the fashionable Arizona Greek Nightculb, whilst traditionalists can try many a cocktail at one of the area's chic bars, which compensate for its comparative lack of pubs. Those looking for a quieter night out will find a few cinemas within walking distance from the tube station.
