About Lyric Theatre

The Lyric was built in 1888.  Its first production was the long-running musical comedy Dorothy.  Since then, it has hosted a variety of plays and musical shows.  A couple of its most memorable productions were The Little Hut in the early 1950’s and Blood Brothers, which had its West End premiere here in 1983.

There are 4 licensed bars in the theatre, which is air conditioned.  It seats 967 over 4 levels.   The narrow auditorium means that, unfortunately, the end seats in the Stalls and Dress Circle have a sidelined view.  The back 3 rows in both of these sections, as well as the Upper Circle, are affected by pillars and overhang from the tiers above.  The front row of the balcony has a restricted view, but apart from that, this section offers good value for money.

The disabled entrance is the EXIT door on the left as you face the theatre.  There is level access to Boxes E, D and C where wheelchair users can be accommodated.  The auditorium has a Sennheiser infra-red sound amplification system with 5 headsets and there is an adapted toilet on the left inside the Royal entrance.

For those travelling by tube, the nearest station is Piccadilly Circus (250m).  For drivers, there is a Westminster City Council car park at Poland Street and China Town, and an NCP at Wardour Street and Newport Place.
