If you are looking for a cheap room in a central location and are not fussed about receiving lots of extra features as part of the package, the Kings Hotel London is a decent cheap alternative to the city's many overpriced so-called 'budget' hotels. The traditional townhouse building is situated in Bayswater, a desirable part of the city close to the shopping districts of the West End, Kensington and Knightsbridge and with excellent rail links across the capital. Other nearby tourist attractions include Oxford Street, Hyde Park and Kensington Palace, with the museums of South Kensington not much further afield.
The hotel itself is a somewhat old-fashioned affair, and guests could be forgiven for thinking they've arrived back in the 1950s after stepping through the front door! Garish patterned carpets, ornate furnishings and plastic flower arrangements are all part of the aesthetic here - nonetheless, the lack of an update when it comes to decoration does not mean that the rooms do not provide good value for money, and with 28 bedrooms available as a single, double, twin, triple or quad there is a good range for different group sizes. Inside each room the decor is more muted, and with a private bathroom, satellite television, hairdryer and telephone, they contain everything you need for a budget sightseeing break and are clean and comfortable.
Elsewhere in the hotel there are few additional facilities given its budget nature. Reception is open 24 hours a day and has friendly multilingual staff who can help out with basic business services and any queries, and there is a breakfast room that opens each morning for a continental breakfast buffet. A full English breakfast can also be arranged at an additional charge.
