The Half Moon Young People’s Theatre was established in the mid 70’s by the Inner London Education Authority. It was the Youth branch of the Half Moon Repertory Theatre, which no longer exists. It moved into its current, converted building in 1994 and puts on professional, family-friendly shows every Saturday from October to April each year.
The building is accessed via automatic doors and is air conditioned. There is a lift to the foyer and the auditorium is on the same level, where there are 8 spaces for wheelchair users. There is an adapted toilet on this floor. There is an induction loop system for hearing aid users and some shows are interpreted in British Sign Language.
The seating arrangements depend on the show, but the auditorium has a capacity of 66-90 people and they are usually accommodated on tiered banks with low benches and cushions.
The nearest train station is Limehouse, which is on the Docklands Light Railway. It’s 2 minutes’ walk away. Parking is on the streets surrounding the theatre.
