The Grims Dyke Hotel offers something a little different to travellers who want to see London without staying in cramped townhouse conditions, with a location in green Harrow Weald amidst acres of open land. Harrow Weald is close to Harrow and Wealdstone, Stanmore and Harrow-on-the-Hill tube stations, providing access to Baker Street in 30 minutes and Euston and the West End in just 15 minutes. This puts all the nightlife of the West End of London as well as tourist attractions including Madame Tussaud's and the London Eye within easy reach. The local area also has much to recommend it, particularly if you have the luxury of a car, with attractions such as Wembley Stadium and Arena, the Harlequin shopping centre, historic Harrow School and Watford FC all within a short distance. Heathrow and Stansted Airports and an easy drive away.
The ample rooms and extensive facilities at the Grims Dyke Hotel make it the perfect location for business events, with free wireless access and two large rooms that are capable of accommodating large numbers of delegates. However, perhaps the most striking feature of the hotel is its extensive gardens and grounds, encompassing a boating lake, kitchen gardens, forest, old monkey house, greenhouses and croquet lawn, making it the perfect place to take a regenerating stroll at any time of the year.
There is complimentary car parking with CCTV for hotel residents.
Accommodation at the Grim's Dyke Hotel is split into two sections: the main building and the outer lodge. The main building provides exactly the kind of room that you would expect from an English country house, with 9 luxurious suites, spacious ensuite bathrooms, four poster beds and traditional decor that creates an elegant atmosphere. The lodge houses the remaining 37 ensuite bedrooms, all of which continue the classic decor and are available with double or twin beds. Each lavish room contains modern facilities such as wireless broadband access, satellite television, telephone, hairdryer and tea and coffee maker.
The hotel's restaurant serves AA-Rosette recommended cuisine in one of the largest and most attractive rooms in the house, overlooking the croquet lawn, terrace and gardens beyond. The English themed menu incorporates produce from the hotel's own garden, and the expert French pastry chef adds a Gallic touch to proceedings. Despite the outstanding food and setting, prices start at the very reasonable end of the scale. The nearby Library Bar has retained many of its original features and channels the atmosphere of a gentleman's study, with an array of whiskeys, cocktails, wines and champagnes available between 11am and 11pm each day.
Given that the hotel was originally the home of theatre impresario and dramatist Sir William Gilbert, of Gilbert and Sullivan, there is a range of fantastic events put on throughout the year to celebrate the building's roots. These include champagne sabrages, Gilbert and Sullivan operas with dinner, gala concerts, cream teas, gourmet dinners, murder mystery nights and jazz performances.
There are two rooms in the lodge that have been specially adapted for disabled guests.
