Green Park tube station is an underground stop situated at the north side of Green Park, London. It is one of the primary stations serving Mayfair, an extremely affluent area of central London. Mayfair itself is bordered by Marylebone and St James's to the north and south, and to the east and west by Soho and Hyde Park. Green Park station is served by the Piccadilly Line, between Piccadilly Circus and Hyde Park Corner, on the Victoria line between Victoria and Oxford Circus, and finally on the Jubilee Line, between Bond Street and Westminster. The station is in Travelcard zone 1. Attractions Near Green ParkBeing a gateway to Mayfair, there is much to see and do around Green Park station. Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens are both in Mayfair, and offer lovely green areas, oases in the metropolis of London. Grosvenor Square is in Mayfair, and the famous square is home to the grand US embassy and a statue of Franklin D Roosevelt. The Royal Academy of Art is in the area too, as is the Wellington Museum. The Curzon Mayfair cinema is an art-house picture house that is worth a look and finally, you can unleash your inner child in Hamley's, the largest toy shop in England. Restaurants And Bars Near Green ParkAs you might expect, there are many elegant restaurants in Mayfair which offer delicious food in sumptuous surroundings. Restaurants such as the Embassy and the Ritz restaurant are prime examples of this. It needn't be massively expensive to eat in Mayfair however, with brasseries such as Langan's Brasserie and The Market Brasserie offering a range of dishes and drinks at more reasonable prices. There is a selection of nice Indian restaurants, with the Tamarind in particular offering delicious curries. Cheaper eats can be found at chain outlets such as Pizza Express and smaller pizzerias such as Pizza in the Market, which also offer a takeaway service. There are a proliferation of private member's bars in Mayfair, such as the Arts Club and the Naval Club, but there are also cool bars such as the American Bar and Davy's. There are also good nightclubs in the area, such as the Hard Rock Cafe, which offers cheap drinks and a large dancing area. If you are just after a quiet drink however, pubs such as the Red Lion and Samuel Pepys should suit you well. |
