The Gate Theatre is the only one in London dedicated to producing international work. It opened in 1979 above the Prince Albert pub. Its productions include both emerging and established artists and starring roles have been taken by Kathy Burke, Jude Law, Sophie Okonedo and Rachel Weisz, among others.
Patrons of the theatre have access to the pub below. It is a studio theatre with a seating capacity of about 70 in a flexible space, depending on the production.
The building is not fully accessible. It is up a flight of stairs and there is no access for wheelchair users. It has induction loops for hearing aid users and hand rails in the toilets.
The nearest tube station is Notting Hill Gate. You can find a limited amount of parking in the streets around the theatre; at times this is pay and display.
