Guests at the Coach and Horses Kew are fortunate enough to be situated in one of the greenest and most picturesque parts of London, the district of Kew near Richmond-upon-Thames. The hotel is next to Kew Gardens, a large and sprawling network of gardens, conservatories and ponds that is full of interesting glass sculptures, stunning plants and flowers from around the globe and even a skywalk amongst the treetops. Kew Green is in front of the hotel building and hosts regular cricket matches, and the wildlife of Richmond Park is a short journey away. Kew itself has the National Archives and the Steam Museum to keep tourists busy, and nearby Richmond is a quaint yet modern town crammed with cafés, restaurants and shops, as well as boats up the River Thames into central London. Indeed, central London can be reached by both the Overground and District train lines from Kew Gardens train station.
The hotel has its own function room, which can be adapted for either business or leisure purposes. For meetings it can seat up to 60 people and comes equipped with WiFi, screen, flip charts and pens; alternatively it can host formal dinners or large buffets when combined with the Atrium room.
Free parking is available to residents in the hotel's underground car park, with another car park to the rear of the hotel during busy periods.
Warmth and comfort are the two main features of rooms at the Coach and Horses Kew, ranging from an inviting cream and red colour scheme to crisp, white walls and bed linen. Each of the 31 rooms has a simple yet modern design, and is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities to make it feel like a home away from home; these include air conditioning, ensuite bathroom, free WiFi, plasma television, hairdryer, workstation, telephone, trouser press, complimentary toiletries and coffee and tea making equipment. Rooms come as a classic single, twin or double, and there are also superior double rooms that are more spacious and allow an extra sofa bed if required.
The Coach and Horses Kew is part of the Young's hotel chain, and thus incorporates a highly rated gastropub within its walls. The restaurant is open for breakfast and throughout the day, and serves traditional pub fare with a contemporary presentation. The menu changes seasonally to make the most of fresh British ingredients, with dishes ranging from steaks and scallops to lighter sandwiches and starters at lunchtime. The well-stocked bar serves spirits, a good wine list and an excellent range of cask ales, and the outdoor terrace is particularly buzzing during the summer months.
There is a special menu for children in the hotel restaurant to make dining en famille a pleasurable experience!
