About Bow Road

Bow Road Station is in Tower Hamlets, East London.  This area has benefited from the regeneration of the Docklands in recent years and is now a place where many young professionals live.  It has some bars and restaurants nearby, as well as small shopping parades.  It’s not particularly known for its nightlife, but the Docklands are within easy reach.  Bow Road hotels can be an affordable option for business people who need quick access to the financial and business districts of the City and Canary Wharf.

There is a 2 star and 3 star hotel near Bow Road Station.  There is also a serviced apartment block, which is somewhere between a hotel and a rented flat, with the benefits of both.  If you want more upmarket accommodation, try looking further south, on the Thames, at West India Dock, where you can find some very fancy 4 and 5 star properties, with price tags to match.

Bow Road Tube Station

Bow Road Station is on the District and Hammersmith & City Line, in Travelcard Zone 2. It’s in the borough of Tower Hamlets, East London.  It has an interchange with Bow Church station on the Docklands Light Railway, which is 200 metres away.  Through ticketing is allowed between the 2 stations.  Bow Road opened in 1902 and the station is a Grade 2 listed building.

Attractions

There are a number of parks in this area to enjoy.  The largest one is Victoria Park, which is made up of grass and woodland, lakes and footpaths, and is a very pleasant place to spend a sunny afternoon.  Children will enjoy watching the animals in the deer enclosure and exploring the playground.

Mile End Park is even closer.  It’s an unusual green space which was opened in the 1940s as part of a plan to connect grassy areas to the Thames, and it is spread out, with roads and railways separating some parts of it.  There are events held here throughout the year such as Easter Egg Hunts, Halloween shows and winter festivals.

The Ragged School Museum is a family friendly place that offers visitors a slice of Victorian life.  It used to be London’s largest free school for poor children and you can explore this through role play, hands on exhibitions and talks.

Bow has a famous market on Roman Road.  It has fresh local produce at good prices as well as a range of other stalls such as crafts, antiques and clothes.  Sometimes there are street performers and activities such as face painting for children.
