Boston Manor is near the towns of Brentford and Hounslow, West London. It is a suburban part of London, named after a Jacobean Manor House in the area. Two large shopping centres can be found a short bus ride away – Ealing Broadway and West Ealing. These will take care of all your entertainment needs, having cinemas and nightclubs as well as shops. There are a few hotels near Boston Manor station, of a guest house or mid-range standard. Boston Manor is on the Piccadilly Line, in Zone 4. It’s on the Heathrow branch of the line, on the boundary between the Boroughs of Hounslow and Ealing, West London. It opened in 1883 but the station was rebuilt in the 1930’s, in the modern European style, using brick, reinforced concrete and glass. It has a tall tower with an illuminated edge and the London Underground sign on it, which helps you to spot the station from a distance.
Boston Manor House is a Jacobean property built in 1623. Parts of it are open to the public between April and October each year. You can see the dining room where William IV and Queen Adelaide ate during their visit in 1834, as well as the fabulous plaster ceiling in the state rooms and a large collection of paintings.
Boston Manor Park is a huge and award-winning green space. It has a nature trail, canal, wildflower meadow, “secret” walled garden and an ancient Cedar of Lebanon dating back to the 1700’s. There are also sports facilities including football pitches, basketball and tennis courts and a bowling green. Festivals and other events are often held in the park on Sundays.
The Log Cabin is an adventure playground for children with special needs. The inclusive play space is suitable for those aged 4-15.
The Elthorne Sports Centre has indoor and outdoor facilities including badminton courts, football pitches, netball and tennis.
Wyke Green Golf Club was built in 1926 and has an 18 hole, par 69 course. Visitors are welcome and some of the greats to have played there over the years include Gary Player, Greg Norman and Retief Goosen.
