The Bloomsbury Theatre is owned by University College London. It has a varied programme of comedy, drama, music and dance. Student productions are hosted annually for 12 weeks and the rest of the year is given over to professional productions. It was built in 1968 and has provided an early stage for a number of British comedians over the years including Lily Savage, Eddie Izzard and Jo Brand.
The theatre is air conditioned and seats 535 over 2 levels. It has an infra-red sound amplification system and there are 2 spaces for wheelchair users in the Stalls. Adapted cubicles are available in the gents’ and ladies’ toilets on the lower ground level, which is accessed via a lift in the foyer.
