Bank Underground Station linked with the Monument stop as one entity, is a station located on King William Street, in the City of London. The City of London is the original, central area from which the greater conurbation of Greater London now sprawls. The Bank station accommodates 5 underground lines (Central, Northern, Waterloo & City, District and Circle) and also has services on the Docklands Light Railway. It is in Travelcard Zone 1. Attractions Near BankAlthough not a big "touristy" area, there is still much to see in the City of London and there are many Bank hotels in the area to accommodate your stay. The historic Bank of England building is in the area as is St. Paul's cathedral. Of course, the City of London is one of the foremost economic engines of the world, and as such you can find the London Stock Exchange, the Baltic exchange and Lloyds of London in the area too. The Mansion House, the home of the Lord Mayor of the City of London, is also a fine building which can be seen in this area. Finally, it is worth noting that some of the largest skyscrapers in Britain adorn the City of London skyline, including famous areas such as "The Gherkin" and this gives the area a very vibrant, modern aesthetic. Restaurants And Bars Near BankRestaurants and bars are not as numerous here as in other areas of London but there is still a fairly large selection, ranging from The Walbrook, an elegant private members restaurant to more Brasserie-type places such as Browns. Also of note are the Imperial City Chinese restaurant and Bar Capitale 2, the latter serving coffees and pizzas all day. Bars include Abacus, a modern-themed bar which also serves food and has a DJ on at night and go all the way to more 'normal' pubs, such as the Jamaican Wine House. Also of note if one is looking for a more quiet drink is The Green Man pub, which also serves pub food during the day. In short, there is a bar to suit almost every taste and budget in this area, and this is just a small selection of the dining and drinking options available. |
