Alperton is a small suburb in North West London. The community is mainly of Asian origin, although there are now people of many other ethnicities living there including African, Polish, Sri Lankan and Caribbean. The main street is Ealing Road, on which Alperton Station is located. There are many Indian restaurants along here, as well as traditional fruit and veg outlets.
There are several big brand chain hotels near Alperton Station including Holiday Inn, Travelodge and Ibis. However, most of them are actually closer to other tube stations such as Hangar Lane. The closest hotel to Alperton is the Fox and Goose (***), which is a traditional English hotel with a pub serving food and Fuller’s ales and beers. The nearest 4 star Alperton hotel is the Holiday Inn London Ealing, which has a fine dining restaurant and conference facilities. A cheaper option is the Holiday Inn Express Wembley. These hotels can be used as a base to travel to Wembley Arena, which is a couple of miles away.
Alperton Station is on the Piccadilly Line. It’s in Zone 4, in the London Borough of Brent, North West London. Alperton is part of Wembley. The station was built in 1903 and was originally a timber framed structure, but it was replaced by the current building in 1931, which is made of brick, concrete and glass. The station is on Ealing Road, which is the heart of this suburb of London.
Sudbury Golf Club is not too far from the station. The course measures 6,277 yards, with a par of 69. It has been there since 1920. It has staged many county matches as well as the Middlesex Open.
The Grand Union Canal runs through the area, which gives it some historic charm. You can take a walk along the tow path and watch the boats go by.
There is a daily Indian market along Ealing Road, selling exotic fruits and vegetables. There is a beautiful Hindu temple further along the same street, built entirely from carved stones brought from India.
During the festival of Diwali, the celebration of New Year in the traditional Indian calendar, a big parade runs along the Ealing Road, with decorated floats and costumed performers. There is a huge display of lights and fireworks.
Wembley Arena is a couple of miles away, within driving distance.
